Simple Cash-Generating Ideas To Make Money Blogging!

Making BIG money from blogging – this sounds great doesn’t it?

Ok, so how exactly do you go about creating a decent income from your blog?

Well, I can immediately think of seven simple ways of making some reasonable money with your blog. Here are some of my initial cash-generating suggestions. I hope you find them stimulating and of use!

Sell your own product or service:

Why not use your blog to promote your product or service? You could for example talk through case studies of people who have bought your product and are finding it simple and easy to use. If it is a revenue-generating product that you offer then maybe you could see if people are willing to give some ballpark figures of how much income they have generated for themselves since buying your product.

On your blog you should allow some space for comments from readers – these can be input straight on the blog by readers themselves or else emailed to you for you to upload. Such feedback serves as vital and ‘real sounding’ testimonials which will help promote your products and gain you further sales.

Have a private members area to your blog:

You could develop a members area to your blog, many websites and blogs follow this approach. If people want to have access to this part of your blog – an area where your best ideas and advice reside – it could require payment of a monthly membership fee to you. The fee doesn’t have to be much but it provides useful cashflow for you are able to invest in and grow your online business.

If you don’t want to charge people money (not sure why you wouldn’t!) you could instead ask people to give you their email addresses which you could later use for marketing purposes.

In the private members area your subscribers will be able to access more detailed and more useful information than would be available on the the public pages of your blog. The public pages could serve as ‘taster’ pages for the value-added information available in the members area. This would serve to encourage visitors to sign up as monthly subscribers to the member pages.

Why not get some sponsorship?:

If your blog begins to gain traction and attracts both a decent number of links as well as decent levels of traffic you might want to see if your blog can gain a sponsor.

Your blog might be targetting a niche audience, one that is difficult to market or advertise to, so it could attract attention from companies trying to reach that very same audience, perhaps to raise brand awareness or promote a new product. If companies don’t come to you, you should think about contacting the major players in the niche you are focusing on in your blog.

There are two ways you could work this to your advantage: you could sell interested companies advertising space on your blog or you could instead get them to sponsor the whole site and cover all costs involved.

Set up some affiliate links:

Your blog will occasionally feature reviews and opinion pieces to do with new products, services or events relating to your blog’s core subject matter. So why not take full advantage of this by including affiliate links within such a blog post?

For example, if you are feeling the urge to sing the praises of a new product that has just hit the market why not go visit the website that is selling that product and see if it has an affiliate program? If it does, why not sign up?

That way anyone who reads your blog can click through on a link and buy the product if they want. That way you get to talk about the product at the same time as you earn some commission. A good tip is to visit sites such as ClickBank.com and perhaps talk about quality products of relevance that are on sale through such a site.

Use adverts:

This is different to point number three because you don’t need to do much in the way of legwork. Websites such as BlogAds or Google AdSense do the work for you. How do they do this? Once you have signed up to their service these websites will place ads on your site that relevant to the content of your blog.

This can be a handy income stream particularly if your blog relates to a niche market. Main thing to bear in mind here, don’t overdo this form of advertising as it will make your blog look cheap and nasty.

Rather than just one blog, have a whole host of blogs!:

Maximize the chances of making some good money via blogs by creating a network of blogs. You can follow the example of Gawker Media that pioneered the idea that blogs can be used to promote and sell products and services. They also employed staff writers bloggers that focused on specific niches.

The selling of advertising space is key to the success of such an approach so not only will you need to have a regular outflow of blog posts but also a sales team that is willing to contact companies that might be interested in spending money with you.

Get the readers of your blog to pay for its existence:

This is the sort of approach adopted by Wikipedia which has relied on donations to continue the project. If your blog attracts a dedicated  audience who are likely to find it difficult to exist without it, you might be able to persuade some of your audience to contribute money towards running costs such as web hosting.
